The passion project is a journey that the students of the eleventh grade embark on for two years. This is a great opportunity for us to explore different interests in the need to find a passion. Over these two years I was able to explore two varied interests which were at two different ends of the spectrum. I explored the likes of data analysis while on the other hand learnt music production and composition.
Half Truth
My passion project was initially a you-tube channel named half truth. In this channel and through the project I wished to explore a side of economics that I had not necessarily learnt during class. I chose to use numbers and data in order to bust misconceptions in teenagers, this included topics such as sleep and its correlation with grades or food and grades etc. My project really kicked of with a bang since I had already identified my in house expert and also found inspiration in a well known man. Here is a glimpse of what my channel was about.

I was able to learn a lot of new things not just about data and its analysis but also about other aspects such a movie editing including adding effects, adding graphics the idea of resolution and picture quality etc. Some very important things I learnt about data and its analysis was

So, after my first video I was really interested in continuing this as my passion project and hence went ahead with trying to come up with a video that would talk about the co-relation between sleep and grades, after through research I found out these results
Re-tune
I was also able to come up with another video that linked the both of these aspects. Over the course of this passion project however, I was given the opportunity to record one of my songs in a school studio that the school had recently built, this experience of recording in the studio understanding microphones and soft-wares really intrigued me and led to me to try another interest of mine in order to see whether it was actually my passion. I started on this new journey about after 8-10 months of trying out my channel. I decided that throughout the remaining time I was going to try to re-invent old Hindi songs that have great lyrics and try to make them more enjoyable so that teens today would appreciate and listen to them. I started of by trying to find out Hindi songs with meaningful lyrics the first song I chose was "kisi ki muskurahato pe ho nisaar", this song had a real impact on me due to its heart touching lyrics. I decided to re-sing this song and present it.

I decided to increase the tempo of the song hence allowing it to sound happier and give the song some tempo. Apart from this I also tried to change the tune of the song in such a way that it is catchy and stays with someone easily, I use 3 major chords ( G C D) with the capo on the fourth fret ( making the chords D G A) and a relatively faster strumming pattern. Through the process of creating this song, whilst working with a professional band member and music producer, I learnt a lot of things. I was able to understand how the simplest changes of where a chord is played can change the entire mood of the song, I also learnt how to project my voice in a better manner so that my vocals could come out to be clearer.

This, however was not the end of my learning experience, it was probably just the start. As you can see in this video I performed this song live and hence wasn't able to address my new found interest for recording and editing songs, and so I decided that in my second video I will professionally edit and record the song. The second song I chose was " Chu kar mere man ko" I thought the tune of this song was great and so were the lyrics, and hence I decided that I would just give it a new voice with some twists in the chords. At this point came my biggest learning in this passion project, I learnt how to use music editing software's such as Garage band and logic pro, under the guidance of my expert I learned about pitch correction and equalization, it was really fascinating to know the amount of change and editing, the music we listen to today, goes through. I also was introduced to the idea of musical typing and how you can actually play instruments through a software and record it to add it to your tracks, after playing around I was able to figure out how to play these virtual instruments.
